Travelling to Cambridge

If you are coming into central Cambridge by car, please allow plenty of time to cope with the heavy Saturday traffic.

The last train from Cambridge to London on Saturday night leaves at 2310.

First Capital Connect offers ‘Group Save 3 and 4’ tickets, by which three or four adults can travel off peak for the price of two. These tickets can be purchased at the station or online but the group of three or four must travel together at all times for the tickets to be valid. There is also a group discount for ten or more passengers (see www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk).

The Citi 1, Citi 3, Citi 7 and 007 bus services will take you from the train station into the city centre.

For more information on car parks including location and cost see:              www.cambridge.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/transport-and-streets/

Parking

The closest car park to Great St Mary’s and the Guildhall is the Grand Arcade car park, Corn Exchange St, CB2 3QJ, five minutes’ walk away. Access is via the ring road and Trumpington St. This is an expensive option.

Cheaper parking is available further from the church, including Park and Ride (recommended).

Residential roads such as Cranmer Rd and Adams Rd to the west of the city centre may offer some free parking. There will be plenty of free parking in a field at the evening reception in Arrington.

Disabled (blue badge) parking: first three hours free at the Grand Arcade car park. There are ten blue badge parking bays along King’s Parade and two on Trumpington St.

Taxis

There is a taxi rank for hackney carriages at the front of the rail station. Companies include Panther Taxis (01223 715715) and A1 Cabco (01223 525555).
